Scripture is clear that God gives us everything.
Acts 17:25 tells us that, “He himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.” Since all was His before we received then we are to give back to Him at least a tenth of what was His to begin with. God has made it clear that He will provide and we are to have faith. One way we demonstrate this is by giving back to His church a portion of what He has provided.
